The Society has been invited to be a part of Space Week Festival at Chabot Space and Science Center on August 1 and August 2! It will be the culminating event for their Space Week. Volunteers will be needed to man our table from 9:30 am to 4 p.m. We understand that some might not be able to commit to a full day, so feel free to come for the hours you’re available. We’re thinking at least four volunteers for each full day, to allow time for everyone to walk around to see the exhibits, while still keeping the table manned. There will be two tables, one for our “How a Telescope Works” demonstration and then another table with our solar system exhibit that will have plenty of room for the Society’s postcards and stickers. The solar system exhibit is based on 6-foot scale and the planets are in scale to the sun. If interested in signing up, please click here to add your name to the shift list. Chabot is Oakland’s place for space, community and connection – with each other and the universe. The festival is designed for space enthusiasts of all ages and is a chance to engage your curiosity, connect with Bay Area scientists, NASA experts, Bay Area aerospace pros, and leaders on the space tech frontier to learn about cutting-edge prototypes, real artifacts, and tech that’s catapulting us into the future. You will also have the opportunity to dance in the courtyard, after lunch.
